So What My Mom Reads My Blog

Blogging can be liberating, fun, mental exercise, a way to keep up with family, a way to hide out from family, a way to procrastinate drafting that settlement agreement (not that I'd know anything about that...)

Some people feel liberated because their family doesn't know about their blog and they've done all they can to keep it anonymous.

Me, the first person I told that I started a blog? Before I ever dropped a comment or figured out how to get my url "out there"? It was My Mom.

Some folks avoid posting certain topics or comments because their family reads the blog. Me, I am inspired to tell it like it is because, well, my Mom reads my blog!

She's not a commenter. She's a Class A Lurker. In fact, she recently admitted to me that she is lurking on some of your blogs, too. She's a Hip Gram: has an iTouch, contemplated a Facebook, IM'd before I knew what that was, knows how to text message. But she is a cautiously Hip Gram - she doesn't have a Facebook b/c she didn't want to share some of the info they asked for. (I told her she could make stuff up but she thought that might be like lying. Because yeah, nobody lies on the Internet ) And she doesn't comment because she thinks maybe sometimes her comments are better kept to herself.

She's that kind of totally awesome Mom. She is, without a doubt, my Best Friend and has been since I was in school. Yep, even in those awkward "hate you parents" years I totally Loved My Mom (I think she'd agree...) But sometimes? I wish she would just drop the ol' bomb on my blog. Because she is witty and well-spoken and a great writer. And I know she has some choice words for some of the situations I've posted about. [and she didn't even give me too much grief over the whole 25 year old secret in the Boy Who Haunts Me and my confession of staying over his house that night...] But I also respect that she doesn't want to comment. Besides, it just gives her a chance to tell me personally...

So yeah, my Mom reads my blog and I'm damned proud she does!

Your Mom truly rocks Girl Next Door. Oh..and I catch her lurking on mine too! (But wait...it isn't lurking if she tells you she is reading...right?). And rumor has it she has visited Casa De Duckfeet as well.

I love your Mom! Even if she DID beat my mom to giving birth by a whole month. Of course - that mattered when we were younger...now I thank her for it!

That's awesome! I'm certain my mother doesn't read my blog. I don't even know if she knows about it. My brother and sister completely made fun of me when I first started blogging, so I KNOW they don't read it, either. Which is fine with me. There are some things they don't need to know... ;-)

I envy you that you get along with your mother. Some of us were not given such lucky lots in life.

Come on, mom-drop a comment or two. Show us your witty side. You know you want to.

I would die on the spot if my mom read my blog. Not because I've written anything terribly awful, but because I'm pretty sure she doesn't like me and that would be freakishly weird for her look at my blog.

I love this. Your Mom sounds awesome!!!!
My Mom reads my blog everyday. This is how we keep in touch now. :) So does my MIL and my husband. and my kids.....
none of my family members comment either and I have to tell you that MY mom sometimes reads your blog too...when she was visiting here at Thanksgiving...we had a conversation about your situation!!!

Yep, I've seen TGND's mom lurking over at duckfeet central! And I agree, she rocks!

As I tell my own kids, Moms just know, so I'm betting there weren't any real revelations in your post. Whether she knew that she knew is another story, natch...

That's awesome!! You're so lucky to have a great Mom. That's probably why you're such a great mom too. It runs in your family! Maybe after this post your Mom will break her silence. :-)

I've only told one other person besides my husband about my blog and she laughed in my face. So no one else knows...and I don't really care!!!!

My mom was awesome(blessing myself), she was a hip as an 82 yr old woman could have been. If she were alive, and she could turn on a computer, she probably would have liked to read our blog.

The others, forgetaboutit. Our kids know, thats all we need.
They love to give us blog material....

That's cool! I don't know if I would want my mom reading my blog, if she were still around.

But then again, maybe I would.

I don't think that's so weird, as long as you know. My mom was a Class A Lurker my whole life, so I wonder every time I post if she's still lurking. Cute blog!
