And This Is Why Sleep Is Optional

Yes it's Senior Time at the House Next Door and we've been busy. Prom was last Friday. Dinner for 17 turned into dinner for 17 and a party for the parents when the dinner got delayed because kids were late and the hairdresser was slow. OH well, it was fun!

That's Daughter on the right in the top photo, in the blue.

Yep three tables (and if you counted ok there were only 16 or something because one date went to the wrong house? " I dunno" as the kids say)

Here's my baby Girl with her Prom Date who used to be her boyfriend but now they're friends (yes that's OK by me AND her!)

Son made a quick appearance with his date so that I could take a photo then it was off to his place of dinner (that was a potluck so I made a tortilla espanola for him, too). No I didn't think to take a photo of Son and Daughter together. Things were a little hectic....
They posed as I took 99 photos. Yes. 99.
Then the limo bus "Chariots for Hire" showed up with the REST of the group.

Someone said there were 26 in all. I didn't have time to count.....

Now I'm uploading photos from the last 17 years onto my NEW laptop. The one Son cannot get within 10 feet of or he will be shot on sight. And when the photos are uploaded, I will work on graduation gifts. (What did Son do you ask? Click HERE)

What's that you say, Graduation is Friday? Yeah that's why I'm up at 2:30 am.

Sleep? Is overrated.

He still gets a gift after the laptop fiasco? What a nice mom you are. LOL
My oldest son is a junior so I'm only beginning to get a taste of what senior year may be like.
Although my youngest two aren't twins, they're in the same grade, so in 9 years I will have double senior year like you have....give me strength!!

Aw, so beautiful!! It's so nice to see most of the girls still had formal dresses. There's something about a short prom dress that just doesn't sit well with me. :(

Both of your kids look great..I can't believe how grown up they are.
You are so great to host all those kids!!!
Next week, you will get sleep. Right?

ChiTown, I'm with you on the short dress thing. My daughter was adamant about a long dress. And then? Bought a short one. But it was her choice, her prom, so I let it go. She was happy, comfortable, and dare I say gorgeous.

And maybe she'll wear it again? Let's hope...the $300 long gown I bought her last year that she swore she'd wear again? Lost in the closet....

It was only a couple of years ago that I was there. You're making me misty! I clicked over from Busy Bee Suz and when I read your profile, I knew I was sticking around. I'm 2 weeks from being divorced and I'm in my mid-40's too. The ex and I are great friends, but I'm gonna have to leave the next door part alone. :)

The kids all look great, beautiful and handsome! Isn't it so fun to see them all dressed up? :)

Daughter and Son look great!

IMO, you will never see that dress on Daugher again. I have 4 years of experience from where you are. In the day and age of Facebook, the young lady will rarely wear the same dress twice. It will be in the pictures on Facebook, doncha know, and someone might see them.

Having just been through it....honey...sleep is definitely optional at this point. LOL. You will survive. You will cry. They will graduate...and we can sleep when we are dead.

Love ya! Thinking of Ya! Hugs to Boy and Girl on their awesome accomplishments!!

What a great idea...to have a dinner before prom!! at my high school (many years ago and even today) there is a dinner for the juniors and seniors and the sophomores are the servers and entertainment. no dates to this and it was always a good time.
I wasn't real big on proms...but seeing those tuxes (that match the dresses, of courses) and the beautiful dresses, makes me a bit nostalgic!!

I love that pic of S and her BF, their faces! --this is from that person with the bad timing to call you the same evening with HER problems, LOL.
