Are we Working or Eating?

I like to get to the office "early." Early for lawyers is before 9am. Most of my group gets in around 8.

But no one is working. Or at least I finally noticed that today. As I walked down the hall to get my 8am Diet Coke, I noticed everyone sitting at their desk...eating.

Is it just Americans who eat at their desks? Why don't we stay home and have breakfast with our families? Do we rush out the door to beat the horrid DC traffic then catch breakfast at work?

Is this healthy? Strange? Or Just American?

Speaking for myself, I am not at all hungry when I leave the house at 6:15--before anyone in my house is awake. So it is yogurt, strawberries, a sprinkling of granola and email for breakfast!

Yeah, what Jenn said. :)

Mornings around here are pretty rough, and sadly involve LOTS of yelling and screaming, and rushing. So, it's much more pleasant for me to just bring my yogurt to work, because I'm able to calm down during my drive (after dropping the source of my stress (most mornings!) off at school!) and then enjoy my breakfast while I work at my desk.

Um, on a side note, don't you think it's time to put the spring picture up? Actually, I personally LOVE to look at snow, but you know, the rest of the world is enjoying spring now. Just a thought.... ;-)

I get to work early, eat breakfast and check on the blog till time to start, it makes it less stressful for me.

I typically eat at home before departing for work. There's definitely a uncomfortable shift in society when families can't eat breakfast together because of the mad dash to school and work.

Also, eating breakfast at work [which I've done occasionally] reinforces the concept that work is the center and not the home with one's family.

Just my two cents.

I haven't worked at a job where I had a desk, but, yeah...when I did...I would hav a quick b'fast at my desk for the same reason as Jenn...plus, getting myself ready, along with the boys didn't leave much time for anything other than a cuppa.
i wonder if maybe your co-worker uses that time....to relax...to sit in a quiet place and get ready to "seize the day"....again, that's what I had been known to do!!

and yeah...hellLlooo...spring picture?? I'm sure your yard looks amazing!! ;-)

I get ready and leave the house before the rest of my peeps, so I wait to eat until I get to work. I like cereal with my email and outlook.
